Back to PLAY Forest - Ecole Filles de la Charité
Healing through play
TypeSchools
Area12 sqm - 48 trees and shrubs
LocationLebanon
StatusPlanted in 2021

Following the horrific August 4 2020 blast, the city of Beirut was left devastated.

We want to plant micro Miyawaki forests as part of the rehabilitation of school playgrounds.

This will help heal the community through the physical act of planting, educating the students on the different native species, and exposing them to forest ecosystems in the context of highly urbanized Beirut.

Regenerating destroyed playgrounds will

  • Allow children to heal from traumatic experience through nature therapy
  • Provide an educational platform for students
  • Restore biodiversity in urban areas
  • Reinforce sense of community and care
  • Enhance education and creativity
  • Raise awareness for urban forest benefits

We will be starting with three schools most impacted by the blast, in collaboration with the “Let’s Play” initiative and Beit El Baraka.
